You may remember my previous post about my friend's home, A Favorite Place Tour: Brooke's Peaced Out Home by Lake Michigan. The first two shots of the tour were of her in-progress front porch. Well, above is her real "before" shot before she started the project.
Let's just really look at that for a moment. As you can see, it needed work (which I have to say I never really noticed until I saw this picture).
Brooke has done ALL of this work by hand, all by herself, which is 1. impressive, and 2. time-consuming. This is what she did:
- She removed, sanded, repainted, and reinstalled all of the windows to the enclosed porch.
- She replaced the mailbox with a cool farmhouse-y one (from Amazon), and replaced the porch light with a more industrial one (from Lowe's).
- She sanded and repainted all of the wood trim as well.
It doesn't sounds like a lot (visually), but it makes a HUGE impact. Here's the after:
I don't know about you, but I think it looks awesome! It really shows you what some paint and elbow grease can do! Miracles! Brooke said she still has to get new house numbers and she wants to eventually get a new door, but I was too excited about this current picture to wait for the final final FINAL finished product.
Also, I know that she is already planning a makeover of the inside of the porch, so sometime in the future, we can check out that project as well. I can't wait!
Let's give her a big "YAY BROOKE" because a handy woman with skills is my favorite kind.
Until next time...
